COVID 19: Ekong Sampson Charges A’Ibomites On Personal Hygiene

Amid numerous precautionary measures canvassed to contain the dreaded corona virus, the Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Petroleum Resources in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. (Barr.) Ekong Sampson, has called on the people of the state to pay serious attention to personal hygiene and environmental cleanliness, even as the state government is set to clamp down on illegal felling of trees in city centres.
Speaking to newsmen on recently in Uyo, the Honourable Commissioner posited that “There are deadly diseases that have been taking a toll on the lives of Nigerians; diseases like Lassa fever and malaria. These are also very deadly.

“We all have to do our very best to guard against further deadly attacks through these diseases by taking the matter of personal hygiene very seriously, while we also protect our environment.
“We all have to be counsellors to one another in this matter in order to stay safe from these age-old maladies that have been claiming lives.”
He further reiterated government’s stance to tighten control against unauthorised felling of trees in cities across the state. “As we all know, trees are meant to beautify the environment and to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change,” Dr. Sampson added.
On a similar note, Dr. Ekong Sampson has expressed satisfaction over what he termed as “re-assuring compliance” by side road traders following the state government ban on illegal trading along the Airport Road.

The Environment and Petroleum Resources Commissioner in the state had earlier toured the Airport route where he met with and appealed to the traders on the need to choose the path of safety while still staying in business in a safe and authorized space.
